Allie fractured his right toe during the latter part of the Clever Boys’ domestic triumph in a freak accident while training with his teammate Eleazar Rodgers.
The former Ajax Cape Town player last featured for Wits against during the victory against Platinum Stars in April, but he is confident of being back in full training by the start of July.
“Things went well with my surgery and it’s now just a matter of recovery. I’m not hasty but I have no pain in my toe [any more],” Allie tells KickOff.com.
“I’m very confident that I will be back on the field with the boys [Bidvest Wits] for the pre-season,” said Allie, who is wearing a medical moonboot to aid his recovery.
The former Bafana Bafana international further stated he is still basking in the glory of winning the league title with the Clever Boys for the first time in his 12-year career in the top flight.
Allie missed out on two occasions for a league medal with Ajax Cape Town back in 2003 and 2008, while last season he ended as a runner-up yet with Wits.
The 32-year-old said winning his first league medal in his career was a like a dream come true.
“I was very emotional. I couldn’t believe that I’ve actually achieved this. There was one stage in my career I thought that perhaps it’s never going to happen – but it did,” he says.
“The fact that it was my first time as well as the club’s makes it even more special. It’s like a perfect fit made in heaven.
“It’s honestly a big deal to me as I came close on several occasions and you can understand my euphoria,” Allie concludes.
