Wits started the season with a 3-0 win over Free State Stars on Saturday, with debutants Mxolisi Machupu and Deon Hotto notably finding the net alongside Thulani Hlatshwayo at Bidvest Stadium.
"The mood is positive and it is very high, you could see in our play," Mkhwanazi said.
"I think the signings that started the match really did well, they made the game simple for us."
Chiefs, meanwhile, held champions Mamelodi Sundowns to a 1-1 draw on the weekend in Govanni Solinas's first assigment as Amakhosi boss.
"Obviously they are a tricky side. They have a new coach and a few new exciting players," Mkhwanazi says of the Glamour Boys.
"We really need to stick to our game plan and somehow we have got to match them. They are a big team and we are playing away, it won't be an easy match. But it will be exciting.
"We have new signings and they also have new signings, hopefully they will come and give us joy. So we will see on the day of the match.
"It’s going to be tough for us. They will be playing in front of their fans, but we need to take the positives out of our Free State Stars to that match."
