Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt has commented on reports linking the club to Zimbabwe's Highlanders defender McClive Phiri.
According to The Chronicle, the South African side sent scouts to watch the player in Saturday's Chibuku Super Cup final against Ngezi Platinum Stars.
The report states that should Phiri impress the Clever Boys coach, the Johannesburg-based side will not be expected to pay Highlanders anything as the player's contract expires at the end of the month.
Phiri has four national team caps he earned from World Cup qualifiers against Somalia in Djibouti and Harare, as well as two legs of the CHAN qualifier against Lesotho.
His style of play is to overlap and deliver good crosses. He is considered one of the best right-backs in the Castle Premier Soccer League.
Contacted for comment, Hunt tells KickOff.com the reports are not true.
"I don't know anything about it. Which scouts are those?" Hunt asks.
"I'm really happy for those scouts, whoever they are I'd love to know. Ja I'd love to know who those people are."
