Parker reflects on Chiefs half-century

Parker hit the 50-goal mark for Amakhosi in all competitions, when he scored a 67th minute equaliser in their 1-1 Absa Premiership draw with Free State Stars on Saturday.

The 31-year-old former FC Twente frontman, who arrived at Naturena at the start of the 2011/12 campaign, is delighted to have achieved the feat but felt it should have come earlier.

“I have achieved something great. It’s a good achievement, although I am not entirely happy because with my standards and quality I would have wanted to have reached this milestone earlier,” Parker told his club's website.

“I am now in my seventh season at Chiefs. To score 50 goals is great, but it’s not enough, especially when looking at what is the going rate of scoring in Europe, as that’s the top level and that’s where the standard is set.”

'Hond', as he is affectionately known, says he hopes to continue donning the black and gold of the Glamour Boys for many more years as he looks to cement his place amongst some of the club's greats like Doctor Khumalo, John 'Shoes' Moshoeu and Fani Madida.

“While still at Chiefs, I want to score a lot more. I want to leave a legacy at the club and to be remembered like some of those other great strikers that played for Amakhosi,” he concluded.
