Polokwane City have started pre-season with a man who is no stranger to being in the hot seat at the club.
Following the resignation of Jozef Vukusic, who led the club to their highest ever finish in the Absa Premiership last season when they ended in fifth, Bernard Molekwa has taken charge of the team.
Despite receiving Vukusic’s resignation, Rise and Shine announced that Vukusic is still their coach and will not accept his resignation. The Serbian-born coach’s absence from the club's training base has since confirmed his intentions not to return this coming season.
According to a source close to Polokwane City, Molekwa is set to take over pre-season training with the club whilst management clears the issue of the head coach position.
“Polokwane City returned for pre-season training [last week], But Jozef Vukusic was nowhere to be found,” said the source.
“Bernard Molekwa will remain in charge whilst the club chairman addresses the issue of the coach,” he added.
Rise and Shine, meanwhile, are expected to announce midfielder Jabulane Nene as one of their new signings before the start of the season.
