New AmaZulu head coach Benni McCarthy is set to finalise his technical team this week, with a meeting with management scheduled for Thursday.
McCarthy was welcomed to Usuthu on Monday as a replacement for Ayanda Dlamini, who has been redeployed to the club’s youth development ranks.
Despite assistant coach Allan Freese having taken charge of the team for Wednesday’s defeat to Golden Arrows, the former Cape Town City mentor is expected to bring in his own technical team.
KickOff.com has learnt that Premier Soccer League legends Siyabonga Nomvethe and Moeneeb Josephs are set to form part of the new dawn, according to a source close to the club.
“Yes, Nomvethe is back at the club and he will be assisting McCarthy. Moeneeb is also be on his way back to be part of the team,” reveals the source.
Mentions of former Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United midfielder Daine Klate have also been confirmed, though it is unclear whether he will be available given his reported appointment as “club ambassador and technical advisor” of ABC Motsepe League side Ebhayi FC.
Meanwhile, McCarthy took charge of his first training session on Thursday as the team also welcomed back Lehlohonolo Majoro from suspension, while Bonginkosi Ntuli and Sphesihle Maduna also returned to the pitch.
