Benni's AmaZulu pocket R1.5-million

Benni McCarthy's AmaZulu have romped to winning the Q-Innovation Quarter 3 ahead of Maritzburg United and Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) confirmed on Tuesday that the title-chasing Usuthu pocketed the R1.5-million prize money for winning the third quarter of the inaugural DStv Premiership.

Six wins and two draws extended their unbeaten run to 17 under McCarthy's leadership as he continues to earn widespread plaudits whilst being courted by the South African Football Association (SAFA) for the Bafana Bafana head coach role.

The national team's all-time leading goalscorer has seen his KZN-based side rewarded as they are one point of league leaders Sundowns now albeit having played two games more.
