Baxter: 'Chiefs mindset is one of anxiety'

Premiership

Head coach Stuart Baxter alarmingly revealed that his Kaizer Chiefs player's mindset currently is one of anxiety following an indifferent run of results.

Chiefs suffered a setback in their quest to finish the season in a CAF Champions League qualifying place after suffering a 1-0 defeat to SuperSport United at FNB Stadium.

Instead of turning Chiefs' home ground into a fortress, Baxter admitted that his players' mindset is one of anxiety.

"With our support, we should make this [FNB Stadium] a fortress," Baxter said.

"Our midset is not that at he moment, instead, our mindset is that of anxiety.

"I don't know exactly why but I said earlier that the Chiefs shirt can weigh heavy. When the player thinks of themselves or fans think that they're not up to the required standard.

"Is it a concern, absolutely, and we have to ask ourselves why is that and then that will be something to fix in the walls of our training ground."
