Baroka react to star's imminent departure

Baroka FC chairman Khurishi Mphahlele has broken his silence regarding the future of one of the club's out-of-favour stars.

Bakgakga attacker Gerald Phiri Jr. is set to be unveiled imminently by Sudanese Premier League club Al Hilal.

The 28-year-old Malawian international is in the final year of a three-year contract with the Limpopo club.

Once completed, Phiri will be playing CAF Champions League football this season as the Sudanese have qualified for group stages.

While the striker managed just three appearances with Baroka this season.

"Phiri is on his way to Sudan," Mphahlele confirms to Kickoff.com.

"We will find out today if the deal is happening. Today is the last day. Yes, I'm selling him, his contract is running out.

"He is not getting game-time here."

Baroka are currently 13th in the DStv Premiership standings on 7 points, just four points above the bottom of the table side Marumo Gallants.
