Baroka bolster goalkeeping department

Baroka FC have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Cyril Chibwe just hours after the Zambian goalkeeper was released by Polokwane City.

Chibwe (28) has joined Bakgakga on a three-year contract after the South African-born shot-stopper parted ways with GladAfrica Championship side Polokwane City by mutual agreement ahead of the upcoming season.

"Baroka FC are delighted to announce the signing of Zambia international goalkeeper, Cyril Chibwe on a three-year deal," the club announced. "O amogelegile Moroka."

Chibwe returns to the DStv Premiership where he previously made 11 appearances in the top-flight across spells with Platinum Stars and Polokwane City, including 10 during the 2019/20 season in which the latter were relegated.

He is one of seven players who was released by Rise & Shine on Thursday, alongside countryman Charlton Mashumba, former PSL Footballer of the Season Elias Pelembe, Mpho Mvelase, Nicholas Motloung, Vusimuzi Mngomezulu and Mthokozisi Nene.
