'Mbesuma will succeed at Baroka'

Bizana Pondo Chiefs head coach Tshepo Motsoeneng believes Baroka FC have found themselves a gem in new signing Lungelo 'Mbesuma' Nguse.

Bakgaga have signed the striker from the ABC Motsepe League side on a three-year deal.

Motsoeneng, who played for the likes of Santos, AmaZulu and SuperSport United, reveals Baroka had to beat Golden Arrows for the player's signature.

"Arrows wanted him, he went for trials at Arrows and they were interested in him," Motsoeneng tells KickOff.com.

"But I don't know what the deal was between them and the chairman. He came back but coach Mandla [Ncikazi] was saying, 'Hey he looks good, he must come back and we will have a look at him.' And then Covid disrupted everything. I don't know how Baroka got to know about him but he's a top goalscorer.

"Baroka came through, they got to the chairman, they struck a deal and that's how he went across. He is from the Eastern Cape in Bizana. I think if I remember correctly when I checked the stats he has scored between 25 and 26 goals. He is a versatile player according to me. He can fit in as a ten, he is a giant, he is a big boy, he's got big muscles, but he's got speed.

"You know 'Ntofontofo' [Collins Mbesuma], when he came to South Africa we all said 'but this guy is fat' but when the ball was at his feet he used to outrun defenders. He is not your typical striker that will play with his back to the goals, very good in the air, he's forceful, he's a goal poacher, your Marks Maponyane type."

Baroka have also promoted Mogale Thuso, Bernard Bobete, Nimrod Mpe, Tshego Molapo and Job Maphutha from their MultiChoice Diski Challenge team.
