Baroka appoint new club captain

Baroka have appointed Malawi international Gerald Phiri Jnr as their new captain.

Phiri Jnr replaces off-form midfielder Mduduzi Mdantsane, who has been stripped of the captaincy because his "mind is somewhere else".

Mdantsane has been linked with a move away from Bakgaga with his next destination possibly in Gauteng next season.

Baroka spokesperson Richard Mashabane has confirmed that Phiri Jnr is now the club captain.

"Gerald Phiri Jnr is now club captain," Mashabane confirms to KickOff.com.

"We were looking for someone with experience and felt Phiri Jnr was the right candidate to lead the team now.

"There is nothing wrong with him [Mdantsane], the club decided him to take the pressure away from him so he can concentrate on playing football."
