Can Maritzburg fix the country again?


Mamelodi Sundowns have become the big team to beat not only in South Africa but also on the continent, and Maritburg United have a plan to match them.

The two sides will battle it out at the iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday (18h00) in the Telkom Knockout final with R4-million and the second trophy of the season up for grabs.

The Team of Choice have already shocked the country by eliminating the current form team in the league Kaizer Chiefs to book their place in the showdown against the defending league champions.

United midfielder Bandile Shandu has given his own take on Pitso Mosimane's side, who have been dominating the PSL for years and possess talent in all positions on the field.

"They have a lot of experience, quality players from the starting line-up to the bench. We need to go there and work harder than them," Shandu said.

"They've got experience in playing in the CAF Champions League, which makes them play a lot of games to be able to rectify their mistakes easily.

"To match them we just have to win individual battles, work very hard, and I think that would be the difference."
