Bafana dealt injury steback

Bafana Bafana have been dealt an injury setback on the eve of their second Africa Cup of Nations Group D tie on Friday.

Bafana will take on COSAFA rivals Namibia in their second encounter at the continental showpiece, facing all sorts of pressure as their survival in the tournament depends thereon.

But news coming out of Cairo, where Bafana held their final training session ahead of tomorrow's clash at the Al Salam Stadium is that vice captain Dean Furman has been ruled out.

Furman has been an integral part of the Bafana setup and is the current most capped player in the 23-man squad assembled by Staurt Baxter.

The SuperSport United midfielder was seen sitting with his leg heavily strapped on Thursday evening, with confirmation coming through that he has picked up a knee injury.

This is likely to rule him out of Monday's encounter with Morocco as well, but further tests are set to be conducted before a definitive prognosis can be issued.

Furman is the only injury concern ahead of Friday's all-important encounter, with Bafana having yet to register a point after losing their opening clash 1-0 to Ivory Coast.
