South Africa looked in fine fettle against Guinea-Bissau on Saturday as they romped to a 3-1 victory, although that win seems to have come at a cost as Erick Mathoho [skin abrasion], Thulani Hlatshwayo [ankle], Dean Furman [groin] and Andile Jali [shoulder dislocation] all picked up injuries.
As a result, the quartet missed out on Bafana's training session at Sisa Dukashe Stadium in Mdantsane on Sunday evening, following the team's return to South Africa.
Speaking of the injuries, interim Bafana coach Owen da Gama said in a SAFA press statement: “It’s a concern when you have players injured but the good thing is that we have brought a good number of players with lots of quality so we will not rush these ones back.
"We had already said we are going to make changes so if the quartet doesn’t recover on time for the match we are still covered. After tonight's training session, we will have to check their status with the medical team and take it from there."
Bafana will undergo their final training session tonight, at Buffalo City Stadium [19h00], before they take on the Angolans at the same venue the following evening [19h00].
