Bad break for Arrows attacker

Fikizolo, who could be out for three months, had an operation on Thursday after suffering the injury the day before.

“Fikizolo broke his shin bone at training,” Arrows assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi tells

“Sometimes these things happen in football. We are not in control of them and it comes at a time when the team is not doing well.”

The 23-year-old joins central midfielder Danny Phiri on the treatment table, with the Zimbabwean expected to return before the season ends after rupturing his ACL a few months back at training.

Fikizolo was overlooked by coach Clinton Larsen at the beginning of the season, only registering his first league start against Cape Town City on November 25 after making his first appearance off the bench in a previous goalless draw with Orlando Pirates.

The ex-SuperSport United man's absence will be felt by Larsen as Nduduzo Sibiya is currently off form after a superb second half of last season relegated Fikizolo to the bench.

Fikizolo scored six goals for Arrows in 13 outings in his first loan stint with the club in 2014/15 when they were campaigning in the National First Division under Shaun Bartlett. He made his move permanent to the Durban outfit in the off-season after being released by Matsatsantsa.

The Inanda-born winger, who went to Brazil for the 2016 Olympic Games, scored his only Premiership goal for Arrows when he slotted a penalty against Ajax Cape Town on 13 January, 2016.
