Al Ahly striker Amr Gamal has hailed Gavin Hunt after his appointment as Kaizer Chiefs head coach and opened the door for a potential return to South African football.
Gamal spent time on loan at the now-defunct Bidvest Wits from Ahly and made an early impression with two goals in his first two games in the Absa Premiership.
However, the Egypt international soon fell out of favour under Hunt and went on to score just five goals and register one assist in 15 starts across all competitions before he moved on to Finland top-flight outfit HJK Helsinki.
Despite his indifference with the new Amakhosi boss, the 29-year-old waxed lyrical about his managerial capabilities and admits he'd love to return to Mzansi if the opportunity presented itself.
"I would love to come back, there are many good teams there, Chiefs are one of the teams I like because of the stadium, the atmosphere the fans create," Gamal tells KickOff.com.
"They now have one of the best coaches in South Africa with Gavin Hunt, but Sundowns and Orlando Pirates I also like Cape Town City, there are many good teams in the PSL, if I had a chance to come back I would love to."
Gamal has scored 30 goals and registered a further 10 assists in 102 games in all competitions for the Club of the Century since graduating from their academy.
