AmaZulu general manager Lunga Sokhela has revealed the new role for Siyabonga Nomvethe and the latest on his testimonial match.
'Bhele' retired at the end of last season and Usuthu made it clear about their intention to make sure they use his knowledge and experience to groom KwaZulu-Natal's future stars. The club aims to develop top players on and off the field.
"We've spoken to our sponsors, it's going to be a joint programme with them whereby Nomvethe will play an ambassador role," Sokhela said.
"We will also use him more in terms of PR, to help us with players as well, it's an ongoing talk and the good thing is he's passionate about youth and very good with people. We want to use him to his strengths and help him in his dreams."
Sokhela says they are working on his testimonial match, and are still waiting for a response from the eThekwini city government.
"We are still working on that, we need to work with the municipality in Durban. As soon as everything is sorted in that department, the announcement will be made, we have to be patient."
