Johnson appointed Usuthu coach

The KwaZulu-Natal based club announced that they have parted ways with Zimbabwean coach Joey Antipas.

AmaZulu General Manager Lunga Sokhela confirmed via the club's website that Antipas' assistant Prince Matore would be departing alongside the coach.

Sokhela thanked the pair for their service to the club and wished them well: “We’d like to wish Mr Antipas and Matore the best of luck in their future endeavors, we thank them for their time spent with us.”

The club also confirmed that an announcement regarding the now vacant assistant coach role would be made by the end of the week.

The departing Antipas is understood to have been let go after failing to guide Usuthu to promotion from the National First Division last season.

As a result AmaZulu bought their way into the top flight with the purchase of Thanda Royal Zulu's Absa Premiership status.

Meanwhile, new head coach Johnson has been without a club after being let go by Dikwena at the beginning of June.
