Usuthu target Sundowns goalkeeper

AmaZulu FC chairman Sandile Zungu has revealed he is not done in the transfer market despite unveiling nine players on Monday.

Usuthu are currently in a transformation process as they look to challenge in for the top four in the DStv Premiership this season instead of fighting relegation.

The new boss, who managed to convince soccer legend Siphiwe Tshabalala to join the project, says their first few games will give them a chance to see where they can beef up.

"Well, the closing of the transfer window is weeks away, so the first few weeks' games will give us a chance to access the strength and balance in our team," he said at the unveiling of their new signings.

Zungu also revealed that they still need a goalkeeper and has gathered that Mamelodi Sundowns fringe goalkeeper Reyaad Pieterse is being considered as an option.

Pieterse would provide healthy competition to current number one Siyabonga Mbatha as Zungu looks to strengthen every area of the squad.

"The plan is to beef up the team and have competition in positions, especially in the goalkeeping department, we've set up that target for us," he explained.

"Despite having a good goalkeeper in Siyabonga Mbatha, we feel we need a balance and that vacancy is open."
