AmaZulu have revealed plans to become one of the South African football powerhouses under the leadership of Lunga Sokhela.
Usuthu are currently dominating in KwaZulu-Natal in terms of fan base and are ranked third after Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates as the most-watched teams in the Absa Premiership.
This has motivated the club to double their efforts behind the scenes to attract sponsors and grow their support not only in South Africa but in Africa as well.
The general manager of the club says they now need to produce good results.
"It makes us happy to see our numbers and it helps us to get sponsors, it's not a mistake that we are there, our marketing has been brilliant," Sokhela said.
"We now need to make sure that it transfers onto the field because if we did well in the cups and league we would easily be number one. We must now deliver on the field."
Sokhela also says the team must fight and start challenging for top honours in the league, and produce players for Bafana Bafana.
"As much we don't have a mandate for the coach this season, as a club we need to make things right for growth of this brand," he added.
"I would like to see the players we invested in for development getting regular game time in the PSL, have representatives in all the national teams. We've done well in the junior level, now let's look at Bafana Bafana.
"We must compete for the league and cups, improve our away record. We would like to have a trophy this season, no doubt about that and that's the whole team's target."
