Paulse explains Diski Challenge outing

Paulse, a first team regular at Ikamva, hit a brace in the Reserve League tie at Sinaba Stadium.

The 34-year-old has revealed he requested to feature in the tournament, which is earmarked for young prospects.

Paulse told his club's website: "It was a good high intensity game. I actually asked to play in that game because I felt that I needed some game-time. Look, you can train as much as you want to, but the best way to prepare for a game is to actually play the game. Therefore, I enjoyed playing with the younger kids and I am sure they enjoyed having me there as well.

"I think it is important as a striker that I keep on form. I still am the highest scorer for the PSL team this season, so I think it is important for me to stay sharp and to give the coach a constant headache."

Paulse, who is Ajax's top scorer this season with four goals, added: "It was a nice experience, they kept me honest and I helped them where I could. One thing they can learn is the intensity; when you play in the PSL you have to keep up your intensity all the time – you are never allowed to have a break on the field of play.

"I identified that as an area where some of them have to improve, but that will come with time. I think it is important that the club and MDC league involve more experienced players. Get experienced players to play with young players, because the only way they will learn is not only by playing the game, but also playing with players who have been there and done that.

"Let these players experience first hand how it should be done, I enjoyed it and had fun, scored as well."
