The future of Bidvest Wits winger Elias Pelembe remains shrouded in uncertainty, with his agent now shedding some light on the matter.
Pelembe's contract with Wits is believed to have expired on June 30 and he has not returned from his country of Mozambique.
"With Elias it becomes very difficult you know because I think you also know that this Wits sale, or the speculation thereof, is everywhere you see," Basia Michaels tells KickOff.com.
"Ja so, before Covid we were discussing a new contract with Wits. Covid hitting obviously changed things we were... I can't say in discussions but the contract options were still on the table. But now the speculation of the sale.

"I would have to speak to the new owners you see. So the Pelembe [issue] it's cut and dried in that we have to see if the new owners have an interest in him, and should they have an interest in him then my negotiations become with the new owners."
According to the agent, Wits have extended Pelembe's contract until the end of the season, as per FIFA's guidelines.
"Wits have committed to the extension, they've committed to an extension for all their players," Michaels reveals. "They haven't done what many teams did where it's almost like you've left your players to find their way, no.
"With all my clients whose contracts were expiring at Wits as of the 30th of June, they have given me the extension and that was something that we discussed very, very early in June."
Wits official Jonathan Schloss could not be reached for a comment.
