Honours even in KZN derby

The KwaZulu-Natal derby ended all square as Golden Arrows and winless AmaZulu played to a 1-1 draw in the Absa Premiership on Saturday afternoon.
Usuthu were desperate for a victory and they should have gone ahead after 10 minutes when Bonginkosi Ntuli was gited an opening, but the striker sent his effort over the crossbar.
The visitors were then dealt a blow after 22 minutes as  Butholezwe Ncube suffered an injury and was forced to go off, with Sphesihle Maduna taking his place in midfield.
The opening goal eventually arrrived after 36 minutes as Nduduzo Sibiya converted from the penalty spot after Lerato Lamola was brought down in the box. Usuthu, meanwhile, were unable to recover in the opening half as they struggled to carve out a single meaningful opening in the latter stages of the stanza.
However, the visitors were awarded a penalty of their own 11 minutes into the second, which allowed Ntuli to step up and convert the equaliser.
With the visitors pushing for the win, Usuthu head coach Cavin Johnson opted to re-shuffle his attack after 65 minutes, as New Zealand forward Andre de Jong made way for Lehlohonolo Majoro.
The former Kaizer Chiefs and Bidvest Wits striker had the chance to make an immediate impact, but he sent his effort over the crossbar while while Siyabonga Mbatha did well to deny Danny Phiri at the other end.

Both sides were unable to find a winning goal as Usuthu remain without a win in the 2019/2020 season and find themselves rooted to the foot of the standings.
