Lorenzo Gordinho was a handed a start in the defence, while there was a debut for January signing Reeve Frosler, who started on the left.
In the 10th minute, Chiefs took the lead. After some superb one-touch passing and movement between Willard Katsande, Parker and Kabelo Mahlasela, the ball was laid off to Andriamirado 'Dax' Andrianarimanana just inside the box, whose deflected shot whistled in to the back of the net for the Madagascan's first Amakhosi goal.
'Dax' picks just the right time to get forward and almost grabbed his brace five minutes after scoring his side's first but his long-range effort, which looked destined for the bottom right-hand corner, was well saved by Ndlovu.
The hosts equalised in the 22nd minute. Lefa Hlongwane won the free-kick. Marks Munyai whipped in an excellent delivery and Hlongwane got in front of Frosler before glancing the header in to the top right-hand corner leaving Chiefs keeper Daniel Akpeyi with no chance.
Just a couple of minutes later, Dylan Kerr's side almost took the lead. Tshepe played a one-two with Hlongwane which got him behind the visitors' defence and one-on-one with Akpeyi but instead of going for goal he squared the ball to Mwape Musonda, but Mario Booysen's last-ditch intervention saved the day.
The visitors were dominating possession and territory in the second half. Whatever Middendorp had said at half-time definitely resulted in Chiefs playing with more urgancy and at a higher tempo. In the 55th minute, 'Dax' got in to a promising position in the box after some slick combination play, but his shot from inside the box was well blocked by Chris Katjukua.
Soon after, Billiat showed a great turn of pace to skin his marker down the left wing before playing a one-two with Mahlasela but his shot was well blocked by Katjukua once again.
Lidoda Duvha were being pinned back in their own half due to some intense pressure from the Soweto giants. However, against the run of play in the 77th minute, the home side came within inches of taking the lead. Joseph Mhlongo cut the ball back to an unmarked Tshepe inside the box but his first-time shot skimmed the left-hand upright.
In the closing stages, substitute Philani Zulu's sweetly struck shot was straight at Ndlovu before Lesedi Kabinga had a golden opportunity to claim victory for the hosts, but the substitute badly scuffed his shot with plenty of time and space in the box as the game ended in a draw.
