Wits salvage a point against Polokwane

Pule nearly opened the scoring for the Clever Boys in the 10th minute after finding space inside the box but City goalkeeper George Chigova made a good save.

Tshilo broke the deadlock for Rise and Shine five minutes into the second stanza with a powerful header at the back post, 0-1.

Pule had a chance to level matters in the 68th minute for the Clever Boys after Sfiso Hlanti provided a teasing cross from the left wing but he could not keep his free header on target.

Gavin Hunt’s charges showed a sense of urgency with 15 minutes to play going on all out attack.

Granwald Scott almost found the equaliser for the hosts 10 minutes before time with a looping cross that had City goalkeeper Ndlovu beaten but it came off the crossbar.

City were holding on by the skin of their teeth with five minutes to play, but they were finally breached in the final minute of regulation time as Pule netted the equaliser.
