AmaZulu edge past Baroka

Baroka had the brightest start when Tshepo Liphoko cut in from outside the box before blasting at Moeneeb Josephs who saved comfortably in the end.

Usuthu soon took the lead after a slow start as Siyethemba Sithebe lashed home a loose ball from close range in the top corner before 20 minutes.

Bakgaga as expected tried to get a quick response but the home side’s defence stood firm, denying them any meaningful space.

Following the second half, the pressure from away side grew louder and it almost paid off but good goalkeeping Josephs kept them off.

AmaZulu were holding on to their lead, and substitute Mhlengi Cele went close to adding to their tally but a toe-poke block kept him from doing so nine minutes to full-time.

Baroka were denied an opportunity to grab a point when a goal from Letladi Madubanya was disallowed by the linesman.
