The Senegal international started off the season in blistering form but a red card suspension and hamstring injury saw him miss five Premier League games, which affected his overall level of performance.
His last 15 league outings only yielded three goals while his new teammate Mohamed Salah raced to 22 goals, but Mane feels his patience has reaped the rewards after the 5-0 drubbing of FC Porto in the first leg of the last-16 round.
"I'm very happy," the 25-year-old told the club's official website. "Sometimes it can happen in football and it wasn't an easy time for me.
"But I never doubted [myself] because I know how I can help the team. I was always working hard."
After his mid-week exploits, Mane took his season's tally to 12 goals and seven assists in 28 games across all competitions.
