SA players abroad: Smiles for Serero

It was already 3-0 by the time the South African entered the fray. The result – Montpellier’s first loss in eight games – leaves them seventh in Ligue 1 after 23 games.

Singh played for 59 minutes in Sporting Braga’s disappointing 3-1 loss at home to second-placed Academica in the Portuguese second division. Braga remain second-from-bottom on the log, and without a win in eight matches.

Veldwijk came on for just the last eight minutes in an action-packed 3-3 draw, as Groningen let their 3-1 lead slip to share the spoils with Heracles in the Dutch top-flight. Groningen remain 13th on the log, one points behind Heracles after 20 games played.

Zungu featured for 71 minutes as French club Amiens suffered a narrow 1-0 away defeat to Angers, leaving them 16th in Ligue 1, just two points above Toulouse in the drop zone.
