Ron Jans worked with Mokotjo at PEC Zwolle before the Bafana star moved to FC Twente, and says that among all the players who he has coached in his career, Mokotjo was technically the best.
"I've worked with Luis Suarez, but Kamohelo Mokotjo is the best player I've seen when you take the goals out of the equation,” Jans was quoted as saying by VoetbalZone.
“In playmaking he is so good, he’s a genius. In a game of chess, he may just win because he is five, six or seven moves ahead in his thinking. I think this is a great player."
Mokotjo, who won the Dutch Cup under Jans with PEC in the 2013/14 season, thanked his former coach for the backing.
"I think he's a great man,” Mokotjo said. “And I'm glad he has achieved what he has. Even with a so-called small club, which is not a small club to me. He has done a lot for the players and the people who work for the club. He is to me Mister Zwolle."
Jans announced in April that he would leave the head coach position at PEC after four years at the club.
Mokotjo will be hoping to retain his place in the Bafana squad for the African Nations Cup qualifier away in Nigeria on the weekend of June 9-11, under new coach Stuart Baxter.
