Abrahams joins Tau in second-tier

Abrahams, 21, has opted to drop down a division in search for regular first-team football in order to ignite his career in Europe.

After scoring three goals in 15 games since breaking into the first-team, Abrahams fell down the pecking order at De Kanaries.

The attacking midfielder has signed for the second-division outfit, where he joins Bafana Bafana forward Percy Tau - who recently secured a loan to Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.

The Cape Town-born attacker, who's signed a two-year deal with an option of a third explained how the move came about.

"I came here a few years ago. STVV had then noticed me in a friendly match against them," he told the club's website.

"It is of course completely different here than in such a big city as Cape Town, especially the temperature is much lower here. It is also quieter here so that I can fully focus on football

"At STVV he did not get many minutes," he added. " But I am still young, so I still have a lot of things that can improve, but I also have all my qualities.

"First I want to get to know the team better and then to grow together. I have been with STVV for a long time so it was a bit scary to come here."

Westerlo are currently third in the Belgian second-tier, a single spot above Tau's new side after three rounds of fixtures.
