Salie had been training with Mpumalanga Black Aces for the past couple of months, but Vasco have been quick in bringing the 20-year-old back to his hometown. Vasco manager Kenny Gertse confirms that they have snatched the young keeper on a season-long deal and he will compete with Jason Barnard for the first choice jersey. "We have brought him in to strengthen our goalkeeping department and it works well for us because he is Under-23," says Gertse. First Division clubs must field at least five Under-23 players at all times in the up-coming season. Salie has previously been at Santos juniors but also played in the senior team at Ajax Cape Town.
