In a glittering event last night where Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney was named PFA Player of the Year, ‘Rhoo’ was hailed for his impact off the pitch with this prestigious award.
“I am very proud to win this award and I think it shows what football can do,” Radebe told givemefootbal.
“Nelson Mandela once said that sport can change the world and football has played a massive part in uplifting our community.
“It is an exciting time for South Africa having been awarded the 2010 World Cup and I think we will try our best to make it the best World Cup ever.
“It is not only about football but an opportunity to show what our country can do and what it can offer tourists.”
Rooney became their fourth successive United player to lift the Player of the Year award after Ryan Giggs last year and Cristiano Ronaldo the previous two seasons. Aston Villa’s James Milner was named Young Player of the Year.
