SuperSport get an easy three

Anthony Laffor hit a brace, sandwiching strike partner Glen Salmon’s goal just before half-time to complete a comprehensive scoreline.

Matsatsantsa now hold a seven point lead over Santos and Kaizer Chiefs in second and third place on the log respectively.

The match was delayed by 45 minutes due to heavy rain at the venue. Fortunately the game was not called off, as was the case with the fixture between Moroka Swallows and Free State Stars at Dobsonville just a week ago.

SuperSport got off to a stunning start, with Laffor opening the scoring in the first minute with a swirling cross from the right flank that drifted into the goal, embarrassing goalkeeper Greg Etafia who really should kept out the effort quite easily.

United’s early lead allowed them to dictate matters and Swallows’ defence was stretched on numerous occasions.

Daine Klate provided some great skill to create space for a cross and Salmon gleefully finished off the chance to double his side’s advantage just before the interval.

The hosts were much improved after the break but they weren’t able to really threaten SuperSport, who looked quite content to sit back and try to hit the Birds on the break.

And Laffor duly took advantage of some poor defending by the Soweto side to neatly lob the ball over the advancing Etafia with just under ten minutes to play, rounding off the scoring in style.
