Madrid derby ends all square

The city of Madrid was brought to a standstill with Real eager to amend the horror show in midweek against Sevilla.

Furthermore, it was a chance for both to go top of the table after FC Barcelona dropped points earlier to Athletic Bilbao.

Real were under pressure on 18 minutes when Antoine Griezmann edged forward to break the deadlock but a good save from Thibaut Courtois denied the French forward.

Before then, Courtois was called to action again to deny Saul Niguez, but the game failed to take off after that with Real threatening little.

That said, the visitors despite the promising start also made little impact to hit the front-foot as both defences stood firm.

In the second half, the slow tempo continued. But Los Blancos with their home ground advantage failed to seize initiative

In the 64th minute,Luka Modric took a shot from outside the box but failed to hit the target from a decent position.

Seconds later, Jan Oblak pulled off a great save to stop Marco Asensio from getting on the score-sheet as Los Blancos upped the tempo.

Atleti made their first change at the midway point with Angel Correa replacing Thomas Lemar.

With time passing by, both sides failed to bring up any meaningful chances as the clash ended goalless.
