Alba returns in youthful Spain squad

Enrique spoke to Marca ahead of naming his latest squad and responded to suggestions of Alba being selected for the first time since his appointment.

Responding bluntly he said: "Jordi Alba? He's at a very high level, but has always been like this."

The Blaugrana star has since been rewarded for his consistent displays in LaLiga and this season's UEFA Champions League with a return to La Roja - which provides Enrique with invaluable experience within his defence.

However, in-form Paco Alcacer of Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea's Marcos Alonso have been snubbed, despite being standout performers for the unbeaten side's within their respective domestic competitions.

Nine of the 23 players selected are 23 or younger, as Brais Méndez (21) Mario Hermoso (23) earn surprise debut call-ups.
