PSL newboys announce playing squad

PSL newboys Sekhukhune United will start the new season minus the veteran duo of Morgan Gould and Jabu Maluleke, with Evans Rusike also sidelined.

Sekhukhune announced their playing squad and full technical team on Friday following weeks of reshuffling which swept out over half of their squad from last season.

The survivors from last season are Tapuwa Kapini, Ayanda Dlamini, Sibusiso Mbonani, Sello Motsepe, Siyabulela Shai, Nkululeko Hlongo, Thabang Kobela, Nkanyiso Madonsela, Chibuike Ohizu, Prince Nxumalo, Sonwabile Mfecane, Thabang Sibanyoni and Yusuf Maart.

Eighteen players were either released or returned to their parent clubs making way for the arrival of just as many led by Willard Katsande and Justice Chabalala.

Gould (38) has since decided to hang his playing boots to take up a role in the club’s MDC team.

For the 39-year-old Maluleke, he will also not be in the club’s playing squad this season but he has yet to confirm whether he will continue playing or be stopping as well.

Though the club announced the signing of Pogiso Mahlangu from Pretoria Callies they have not included his name in the squad.

The club also has Zimbabwe international Rusike.

The former SuperSport United and Maritzburg United forward already has an agreement with the club but will only be ready to play later this year.

He has been training at the club.

Sekhukhune United will get the season underway at home to Chippa United on Saturday afternoon at Makhulong Stadium.
