SAFPU step in to solve unpaid salaries

Teams: ‘Celtic will play better football under Komphela’

According to information gathered by KickOff.com, players from both Cosmos and Celtic have not yet received their salaries from last month ahead of the start of the new season.

The problem of unpaid salaries at Siwelele started towards the end of last season and players went on strike to demand their money to be paid.

Celtic has since been put on sale by club owner Max Tshabalala, but they have not been able to find buyers. The fact that they lost MTN as a main sponsor is not helping the cash strapped outfit.

SAFPU president Thulaganyo Gaoshubelwe has confirmed that he was at Cosmos’ training  ground in Johannesburg on Friday morning to try resolve the matter of unpaid salaries at Ezenkosi.

“It’s not only Celtic, but also Jomo Cosmos. I was at their training grounds this morning, but you can't get in. They locked the gates,” said Gaoshubelwe.

“The situation is so sad. Some of the players have debit orders,” he added.

Celtic start their campaign in the league against Chippa United at home on Sunday.
