“Ruud van Nistelrooy will no longer be assistant coach of the Dutch national team and starting from the new season as trainer / coach for the PSV under-17, under-19 and PSV reserve team,” a statement read.
The 39-year-old will specifically work with the strikers, having been prolific in his playing days in the Eredivisie between 2001 and 2006, netting 95 goals in 150 appearances, and is looking forward to the new challenge.
“I’m really looking forward to my new job at PSV, where I’m going to help the young attackers maximise their potential,” he said.
The former Manchester United frontman will relinquish his post as the Oranje’s assistant to Danny Blind, and thanked the Dutch FA for allowing him to move on.
“I am grateful to the KNVB that they have awarded me this opportunity,” he said.
“For my development as a coach is was a valuable experience.”
