Stars and SuperSport in dull draw

With the single point earned, SuperSport move to fourth position on the table with 34 points from 21 matches. However, Kaizer Chiefs are just one point behind them with two games in hand.

Stars, meanwhile, are in 11th position with 23 points, the same amount as Maritzburg United who have a game in hand.

The first half lacked initiative as both sets of players huffed and puffed with very little end product.

It took until just after the half hour mark for Morgan Gould to hit the crossbar following a Franklin Cale cross.

Then, four minutes into the second half Henrico Botes came close to netting the opening goal, but the big Platinum Stars forward’s attempt was cleared off the line.

In the 74th minute, Jabulani Maluleke tested Stars keeper Jackson Mabokgwane, but there was not enough power on the shot.

A minute later, Rowen Fernandez denied Thuso Phala from inside the danger area as the home side made a rare attempt at goal.

Then the visitors came close to netting in the final seven minutes of regulation play when Cale’s free kick cannoned off the upright and back into play. Zuma was on hand to pick up the rebound, but his shot at goal was saved by Mabokgwane.
