Nange: Chiefs are more hungry

New midfield signing Phathutshedzo Nange insists Kaizer Chiefs are hungry to end their trophy drought ahead of the start of a new DStv Premiership campaign.

Nange joins Chiefs with the club now entering into their seventh season without any silverware - a subject that is becoming both an irritation and inspiration to players.

With the 2021/22 MTN8 already a missed opportunity, Chiefs get their season underway on Sunday away to TS Galaxy with their eyes fixed league honours.

"We are looking towards Sunday, and we are more hungry. We want to do better this season and make sure that we get something at the end of the season," Nange said.

The 29-year-old believes starting on a positive footing will set them up towards a title push.

"We want to start well and make sure that we collect maximum points. If you want to be somewhere at the end of the season or win something we must make sure that we collect maximum points as much as we can. I am more than happy to be here because this is where I was wishing to be. What needs to happen next is that we deliver and make sure that we work harder to achieve whatever it is that we want to achieve as a team and as a player," Nange added.

The midfielder is expected to play a central role in their opener against a tricky Galaxy side at Mbombela Stadium on Sunday.

"We don't know much about the players that they have brought but we are aware that they are not a bad side, and we will go there and make sure that we apply ourselves and make sure that we are more prepared."

Kick-off is at 17:00.
