Bafana begin their 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign this Friday away to Zimbabwe at the National Sports Stadium in Harare.

"Look, hopefully, now that there's a new coach, there are some positive things that will come along," Morris tells Kickoff.com.

"It's a difficult group that we are in, but I'm sure if we stick to the plan that the new coach is putting in place, it should be possible for us to qualify.

Morris, who made 37 appearances for Bafana, says that the current squad has a good blend of players.

"There's a good bunch of players playing abroad, which is always a good thing for a national team.

"I remember the time when I was playing, and we had like the 2006 World Cup qualifications. I think 90% of the players were based abroad.

"The ones who play locally won the Cosafa tournament, which was also a good experience for them.

"If you can get the maximum points at home, that's always the best thing because you can go outside and get a draw.

"Because he's new and there are new players, the timeline for his objectives, and in my previous interviews, I always said whoever is in charge of the team right now should be given enough time.

"So I hope we stick to the plan that we've put in place and try to achieve that goal."
