Highlands award star performers

The newly-crowned National First Division champions honoured their best performers following a stellar campaign in which they gained promotion to the Absa Premiership next season.

Players and staff were treated to a night out at the Linksfield Mo-zam-bik Restaurant last night, as they celebrated their achievement.

Amidst the celebrations, as is the norm for many professional clubs, several individuals were singled out and honoured for their contribution to the club's return to the topflight.

Former national Under-20 midfielder Mvala picked up the coveted Player of the Season prize, while Namibian international Shalulile walked away with the Top Scorer and Player's Player of the Season accolades.

Winger Sphiwe Mahlangu, 22, was crowned Young Player of the Season, while veteran shot-stopper Tapuwa Kapini earned the Chairman's Award.

Highlands finished the season with 69 points from their 30 fixtures this past season, losing just three outings under former Bafana Bafana assistant coach Owen da Gama.
