Alves will become the last of the four Brazilians that Swallows signed in 2008 to leave the club, with Elton Morelato, Vinicius da Silva and Davi Rancan having already left. The 23-year-old tells KickOff.com that club boss Leon Prins has already told him that he will not be offered a new deal. "The president said they are not going to renew my contract and so this means I have to start looking for a new club. I wasn't given a reason why my contract will not be renewed, but I will suppose it is because I haven't played many games because of injuries," says Alves. With injury ravaging his stay at Swallows, Alves has started just 12 games during his three-year stay with The Birds and is yet to start a match this season. He was initially set to be released last season but the club had a change of heart about him.
