Mofokeng, who was briefly at FC AK towards the end of the 2006-07 season, after a lengthy period in the wilderness, is back in football, albeit in the darkness at an amateur team in Midrand.
“Football is naturally in me and I know that I have the talent. All I need is to be given a chance to work on my fitness which is the only thing that is lacking seeing as I haven’t been in competitive football for a long time now. At the moment I haven’t received any offers but I haven’t lost hope,” he tells KickOff.com.
The talented 26-year-old defender-cum-midfielder has been working out under the Jerry Sikhosana and Page Mahlangu coached Vodacom League side, M Tigers, in Tembisa.
“There is no reason why I shouldn’t try to keep fit even if I have no club. I always make sure that every day I work out with the boys from around where I stay. If I just sit at home and give up, then it will not help my cause because I believe age is still on my side if I am to revive my career,” he says.
A natural talent who should have been a regular in the Bafana team by now, Ninja has played for both Ajax Cape Town and Ajax Amsterdam, where he played alongside Steven Pienaar.
However, since his return from Europe Mofokeng’s career has fallen by the wayside. By the time he moved to Bush Bucks, the writing was already on the wall.
