To rub salt into their wounds, it was former player Teko Modise who netted twice for Sundowns.
Atusaye Nyondo’s 27th minute strike was cancelled out by a Modise opportunist goal a minute later, before Nyasha Mushekwi doubled the lead and Modise sealed the win for Sundowns.
SuperSport were missing Anthony Laffor due to suspension and coach Gavin Hunt opted to hand a rare start to Mduduzi Nyanda.
The surprise exclusion was that of Mogogi Gabonamong, who Hunt replaced with Thabo September in the central defensive midfield role.
A rare attack from SuperSport in the 27th minute saw Nyondo give them the lead after an assisting by Tebogo Langerman.
Modise equalized with a toe poke after a terrible mistake by Moffat Mdluli allowed him to steal the ball and score just seconds after Nyondo’s goal.
Then Punch Masenemela set up Mushekwi to hand Sundowns the lead in the 48th minute.
Captain fantastic Modise put the final nail into the SuperSport coffin when he netted after a brilliant turn, showing signs of the old Modise.
The Brazilians are now on top of the Absa Premiership log on goal difference, and will look to cement this position when they clash with Free State Stars in their final match of the year on Wednesday 21 December.
