Somma, who plays for England’s Leeds United, Radebe’s former team, was called up by head coach Pitso Mosimane for the USA match set for Cape Town next week Wednesday.
Radebe, who watched Somma in September playing against Sheffield United, believes the striker can improve Bafana up-front.
“I could see that he looked strong, tough and good in the air. I thought that this guy could be a possible solution to the striker problem we always seem to have. I think he will bring something different to the team,” Radebe tells ESPNsoccernet.
Somma, who grew up in Edenvale – East of Johannesburg – and left South Africa at age 12 for the US, is Leeds’ top scorer this season after netting six goals in 12 matches, including six as a substitute.
