Black Leopards made light work of the challenge posed by visitors Santos, beating the People’s Team 2-0 at Thohoyandou Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Myron Shongwe and Fisher Kondowe scored for Lidoda Duvha.
The first half was a dull affair with the first real chance arriving in the 38th minute when Thando Mngomeni hit the crossbar with a superb long range effort.
However, Leopards took the lead in the 43rd minute when Shongwe scored from close range after latching onto a cross by Jabu Maluleke.
The score remained 1-0 at the break.
Santos continued to struggle in the second and fell further behind in the 73rd minute when Kondowe scored with a long range effort.
Santos’ woes continued when they were reduced to 10 men minutes later after Sebastian Bax received his marching for a second bookable offence.
Both teams made several changes, but neither side could add to their tally.
