Komphela made this comment after his side held Golden Arrows to a 1-1 draw at Chatsworth Stadium on Wednesday night.
“It was a tough game, but had we managed to convert our chances, like the one Sthembiso Ngcobo got and another chance later in the game, we would be talking a different story now. I believe if we continue to fight hard, we will finish among the top five.”
Komphela’s counterpart at Arrows, Manqoba Mngqithi said his players were a little too enthusiastic after their loss to Orlando Pirates last week.
“This led to them making silly mistakes. We conceded a soft goal and got a fortunate goal. I believe we should have done better with the chances that we created as we had a better first half than the opposition.”
Meanwhile, Stars could lose midfielder Hleza Mofedi at the end of the season.
The former Orlando Pirates man has seen little action this season and indications are that he may find a new home soon.
Mofedi’s contract ends in June.
Skipper Duncan Lechesa and defender Siyabonga Mdluli also disclose that the club has engaged them contract extensions talks.
Reuben Cloete, whose deal ends in June, says the club has not approached him and he has not heard of any outside interest so far.
“I am open to offers but will give Stars first preference,” he tells KickOff.com.
