Confirming this, Bucs communication manager Mickey Modisane said he could make no comment on the matter as it is presently in the hands of Khoza.
“This is very sensitive issue. All I can say is that Dr Irvin Khoza is handling the matter personally, and once he is through with the matter, then that is when I will make myself available to the media to talk about it.”
According report from a daily newspaper the Bucs official is said to have received R56 000 to convince Mokoena not renew his contract, which expires at the end of the season, with the Soweto giants.
Mokoena, who is reported to be on his way to Mamelodi Sundowns next season, is not the only player at Orlando Pirates who is still waiting for his contract to be renewed.
Lucky Lekgwati, Lucas Thwala, Francis Chansa and Excellent Walaza are awaiting finalisation of their deals.
However, indications are that Chansa’s contract is unlikely to be renewed next season.
